Size Guide for Felicity Solar Energy Products

Choosing the right solar energy product for your needs is crucial to ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. At Felicity Solar, we offer a wide range of solar products designed for different energy requirements. To help you make an informed decision, we’ve created a comprehensive size guide to assist in selecting the best solar solution based on your energy needs, available space, and product specifications.

    1. Solar Panels

The size of the solar panel you need depends on factors such as your energy consumption, the location, and the amount of sunlight you receive. Below is an overview of how to determine the appropriate solar panel size for your home or business:

    • Standard Solar Panel Size:

      • Dimensions: Typically, solar panels are around 1.7 meters (5.5 feet) in length and 1 meter (3.3 feet) in width, with an average weight of around 18-25 kg (40-55 lbs) per panel.
      • Power Output: Felicity Solar panels typically range from 100W to 500W per panel. A typical home might need between 5 to 15 panels depending on its electricity consumption and the desired energy production.
    • How to Calculate Your Solar Panel Requirements:

      • Step 1: Calculate your daily electricity usage in kilowatt-hours (kWh) from your electricity bill.
      • Step 2: Multiply your daily consumption by the number of sun hours you get per day (this varies depending on location).
      • Step 3: Divide your daily energy needs by the power output of the panel you’re considering to estimate the number of panels you need.

    2. Solar Inverters

The size of the inverter is determined by the total wattage of your solar panels and the type of solar system you are installing (off-grid, grid-tied, or hybrid).

    • Standard Inverter Sizes:

      • Off-Grid Systems: Typically range from 1 kW to 10 kW based on your energy consumption.
      • Grid-Tied Systems: The inverter size usually corresponds to the system’s total output (e.g., a 3 kW system would use a 3 kW inverter).
      • Hybrid Systems: These typically range from 3 kW to 10 kW depending on both solar panel output and backup battery storage requirements.
    • How to Choose the Right Inverter:

      • Ensure the inverter can handle the peak output of your solar panel system.
      • Inverters usually work best when they are slightly oversized to handle transient surges in power.

    3. Solar Batteries

If you’re looking for battery storage, the size of the battery bank is crucial to meeting your energy needs, especially if you’re considering off-grid or hybrid systems.

    • Standard Battery Sizes:

      • Capacity: Solar batteries are usually measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh). Common residential batteries range from 2 kWh to 15 kWh for typical homes.
      • Voltage: Batteries typically come in either 12V, 24V, or 48V. The voltage size will depend on the type of inverter and the overall solar system configuration.
      • Storage Duration: Consider how long you want to store energy for use during non-sunny hours or outages. Larger capacity batteries will provide longer backup.
    • How to Choose the Right Solar Battery:

      • Estimate the total energy you need to store (based on daily usage).
      • Ensure your inverter is compatible with the battery system in terms of voltage and capacity.
      • Factor in future energy needs or potential system expansions.

    4. Solar Charge Controllers

A solar charge controller regulates the voltage and current coming from your solar panels to your battery bank. The size and type of controller needed will depend on your system size.

    • Standard Charge Controller Sizes:

      • PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controllers: Suitable for smaller systems, typically up to 1,000W of solar panels.
      • MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controllers: More efficient and ideal for larger systems, especially if you have panels over 1,000W.
    • How to Choose the Right Charge Controller:

      • The charge controller should match your panel’s voltage and current output, as well as the battery bank size.
      • Always choose an MPPT controller for larger systems or if you want better performance in varied sunlight conditions.

    5. Solar Water Heaters & Other Products

For solar water heaters or other solar-powered appliances (such as solar air conditioners, solar pumps, etc.), the size depends on your specific needs:

    • Solar Water Heaters:
      • Common sizes for households range from 100L to 500L. Consider the number of people in your home and your daily hot water usage.
    • Other Solar Appliances:
      • If you’re considering other solar-powered products (e.g., solar pumps, lights, or air conditioners), refer to the product’s specifications and match them with your energy consumption needs.

    Conclusion

Choosing the correct size for your solar energy system is essential for achieving optimal performance and efficiency. To help you make the best choice:

    1. Calculate your energy needs based on your daily consumption.
    2. Select products (panels, inverters, batteries, etc.) that match your requirements in terms of capacity and size.
    3. Consider future scalability in case you need to expand your system down the line.

If you need assistance with selecting the right size for your Felicity Solar products, our team is here to help! Please feel free to contact us for personalized recommendations and guidance.

Disclaimer: The above sizes are general guidelines. Actual requirements may vary based on specific use cases, locations, and product specifications.

Charging Algorithm
Charging Way Three Phases:
Boost CC (constant current level)   —  Boost CV (constant voltage level)   —   Float (constant pressure level)
Charging Stage Transition Definitions (1) Boost CC Stage: If A/C input is appliled, the charger will run at full current in CC mode until the charger reaches the boost voltage.
(2) Boost CV Stage: the charger will keep the boost voltage in Boost CV mode until the T1 timer has run out.
Then drop the voltage down to the float voltage, when the charging current is lower than 20% setting value.
(3) Float Stage: In float mode, the voltage will stay at the float voltage. If the A/C is reconnected or the battery voltage drops belows
24Vdc/48Vdc, the charger will reset the cycle above.
